Our personal defense dogs are safe family pets first, but with the skills and training to defend you if you find yourself in a life or death threat scenario. While some would call our dogs "protection dogs", our dogs differ from law enforcement and sport protection dogs in a few key areas:
1) Personal defense dogs are trained to use a reasonable and proportionate amount of force to combat a credible threat specifically to their handler.
2) Personal defense dogs are trained to respond to aggression in an attacker (not their equipment, appearance, or physical behaviour).
3) Personal defense dogs are trained to be dynamic and mobile as they continue to engage an active threat in order to allow you time to get to a safer distance or location before calling the dog off and recalling the dog to your side.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Safehouse K9 trains you, the handler, what steps to take so that as you use your dog in self-defense, you will also have the best possible chance of defending your actions in a court of law.
18 months old
A personal defense dog is trained to "watch" a potential threat, to deploy and bite on command, to "reverse" (let go) and retarget on a hand holding a weapon, to fight a threat at a distance from the handler, and to "out" and recall to the handler on command. Additionally, a personal protection dog has excellent obedience and stability under stress and is trained to move safely with the handler in public.
2 years old
In addition to all the training of a personal defense dog, a family defense dog is trained how to fight a threat when wearing a muzzle, how to respond to an attack on handler, a vehicle attack, a home invasion, and has been introduced to working around firearms.
2-3 years
In addition to all the training for personal and family defense dogs, an executive defense dog has been trained in dynamic movement with their handler, kidnapping scenarios, vehicle ambush scenarios, deployment in a crowd, how to guard an object, and deployment and recall under live fire.
Pricing ranges from $25,000 - $75,000, depending on your needs.
Typically, trained dogs are under contract to be sold long before they finish the training process. You can therefore expect to place a deposit on a dog in training and then pay the rest of the purchase price in monthly installments until the time of delivery.
Once a dog is fully trained, there is a 5 day delivery process where either we bring the dog to you or you come to us. During those 5 days we teach you to handle and move with your dog under obedience. You keep your dog with you overnight so that the bonding process can begin in between training sessions. After 3 days of learning to move together as a team, we introduce you to bite work as a team on days 4 and 5. By the end of the delivery process you will be confident that not only can you live and move with your dog, you can count on them for your personal security in the most legally defensible way.
